The record-breaking skyscraper is part of the new North Pole Project
Move over Burj Khalifa, Riyadh could be home to the world’s largest tower, Rise Tower.
Plans for Rise Tower were revealed as part of the North Pole Project by Saudi Arabia Holding Co. CEO Mohammed AlQahtani, as reported by sister site Commercial Interior Design.
The exciting plans bill the North Pole Project in Saudi as a ‘city of the future’ that extends over 306 square metres in Riyadh. Rise Tower is the gravity-defying focal point of the development.
Wondering how tall Rise Tower could be? As of this writing, the precise height of Rise Tower was not revealed, however, to beat Dubai’s Burj Khalifa as the world’s tallest building it would need to extend over 828 metres.
Burj Khalifa currently holds a number of records including tallest building in the world, highest number of stories in the world at 163, and the tallest free-standing structure in the world. It even has the tallest service elevator in the world.
We will see if Rise Tower Riyadh will top that.
The aptly named North Pole Project will also be focused on sustainability and connectivity with pedestrian-friendly streets, bike lanes and natural public spaces. Like NEOM’s THE LINE, there is also a focus on vertical living, autonomous vehicles and advanced public transportation systems.
Saudi has many record-breaking developments, including New Murabba in Riyadh, which will be the world’s largest downtown. The Kingdom could even be getting a giant (and we mean giant) turtle-shaped floating city as seen in plans for Pangeos. You can also get excited about these attractions coming to Riyadh.
