Saudi Arabia is making a significant stride towards becoming a global sports hub. It already hosts Formula 1 and football, and now, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is making its way to the Kingdom, marking a major milestone in the country’s sports history.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Saudi Arabia would host its first-ever UFC event — tickets for which are now up for grabs. The UFC Fight Night will take place on 22 June in Riyadh. For the first time, Saudi MMA fans will experience the adrenaline-pumping action of a UFC Fight Night live at the Kingdom Arena. The headline event will feature a clash between Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev.

Apart from the highly anticipated match between Whittaker and Chimaev, the event will also feature several other thrilling heavyweight bouts. These include a battle between renowned Russian powerhouses Sergei Pavlovich and Alexander Volkov, and Johnny Walker will also come face-to-face, in the ring with Volkan Oezdemir. Many more prominent names, known for their exceptional skills and fierce competition, are part of the UFC Fight Night in Saudi Arabia.

The UFC Fight Night was initially supposed to take place in March 2024; however, it was pushed to June to ensure “the best calibre of talent will be available to participate.”

The UFC awards the heavyweight champion of MMA. The championship hosts more than 40 live events each year in some of the most prestigious arenas around the world, and the lineup features the world’s best MMA athletes, representing over 80 countries.
