Inside Nujuma: The Red Sea’s stunning Ritz-Carlton Reserve

It’s opening later this year…

If you’re dreaming of an ultra-luxury getaway close to home in the Kingdom, the upcoming debut of The Red Sea’s first three resorts should be high on your staycay bucket list. Among the first three hotel openings is ultra-luxury Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. And the new renders of the resort have already got us packing our bags.

Set on a paradisiacal strip of sand in the crystalline Red Sea waters, Nujuma is one of two resorts opening on Ummahat Island. A sister property by St Regis will also open on this sliver of sand later this year.

The resort joins an ultra-exclusive collection of just five Ritz-Carlton Reserves around the world, and will be home to 63 one- to four-bedroom overwater and beach villas. Swoon.

This super-luxury private sanctuary promises to deliver transformative and immersive guest experiences, blending “seclusion and sophistication to provide a highly personalised luxury escape” a statement from Marriott’s chief development officer Jerome Briet promises.

Five-star amenities will range from a lavish spa and swimming pools, to an array of restaurants. Edu-tainment will be high on the agenda, and as such, a Conservation Center will offer insight into the protection of the local landscape.

Room rates and booking details haven’t yet been given. But stay tuned, bookings are expected to open in the coming weeks.

Ritz-Carlton Reserve’s are all in handpicked, far-flung locations around the globe, weaving together human connection with the unique elements of the local culture, heritage and environment. Existing Ritz-Carlton Reserve’s are found in Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

The Red Sea hotels to look forward to

St Regis Red Sea Resort

The Red Sea Project’s first three hotels in phase one of development are on track for completion by the end of 2023. The entire first phase – complete with 16 hotels offering 3,000 hotel rooms – will be ready by the end of 2024.

Six Senses Southern Dunes, located on an inland site, will open first. It will be followed by Nujuma and a St Regis Resort on Ummahat Island later this year. Next year, on the hub Shura Island, expect luxury hotel openings from EDITION, Grand Hyatt, Fairmont, Jumeirah, Miraval and SLS, each bringing its own signature style and design.
