Royal Al Hamra Palace Jeddah to become a luxury boutique hotel

King Faisal bin Abdulaziz’s palace previously welcomed world figures.

Saudi Arabia’s Boutique Group has announced its latest hotel development. The hospitality company, which is owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is turning Al Hamra Palace Jeddah into a luxury boutique hotel featuring 77 keys, including 32 lavish palace suites, 44 luxurious villas and one royal suite

The project aims to combine Saudi Arabia’s culture and heritage with hospitality. Boutique Group is partnering with the international architecture design firm, OBMI. Plus, it will work with the critically acclaimed French interior designer Jacques Garcia.

Located on the corniche, Al Hamra Palace Jeddah was originally built as a royal residence for King Faisal bin Abdulaziz. The design is a mix of architectural traditions, from Islamic hijazi to neo-classical elements. The structure includes arched gateways, slanted roofs and Riyadh stone. Upon completion, it became a royal hospitality palace. The palace welcomed guests including President Richard Nixon, Diana Princess of Wales, and King Charles III.

Interior designer Jacques Garcia explained: “My inspiration stemmed from the existing Islamic architecture of the palace combined with the marvellous essence of old Jeddah and its Hijazi influence. Fusing these elements to reflect oriental elegance while adding diverse colours and luminous shades, which flow seamlessly in this elegant and expressive masterpiece.”
