About Arty Cafe
There is nothing more relaxing than letting your imagination flow and expressing emotions by painting on an empty canvas while sipping your favorite coffee. Arty Café allows you to do just that, making it a perfect place to unwind after a long day at work. Located in Jeddah’s Al-Zahra district, Arty Café is open Saturday-Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Fridays
Artful ambiance
The cafe has art supplies ranging from coloring pencils to acrylic paints and brushes of all sizes. The atmosphere, lighting, and background music serve as the perfect encouragement for a room full of passionate artists to paint and create ceramics. As well as being a creative art platform, it also offers coffee and desserts such as the popular iced Spanish latte.
Simple decorations
Arty Café’s design is characterized by wooden tables and chairs stained with multiple colors and features an art studio with integrated supplies. The walls are decorated with various paintings by the café’s workers. Some tables are made from raw brick and recycled paintbrushes.
Joumana Marghalani, one of the nine members of the Arty Café team, said owner Heba Reda Mer’i officially opened the venture in 2019. An artist herself, Mer’i wanted to provide as many guests as possible the opportunity to learn different types of plastic arts through training sessions at her art studio.
Art courses
Marghalani added: “The café provides customers with different training courses to learn the basics of the arts as well as full monthly courses that teach drawing or painting. There is also a great demand for our ceramic training courses.”
Daily courses are priced at SR50 to SR104 and allow subscribers to paint on canvas, while the prices of training sessions range from SR150 to SR300. The price of a full ceramics course is SR1,800; a painting course is SR1,200.
Art for children
Marghalani also pointed out that workshops are available fo
r all age groups – 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. is allocated for children and their families. Full courses for school students during the summer holidays are also available, while the café welcomes school trips during term time.
